Assess your health, extend your life - Wattbike partner with Bupa to roll out Peak Health Assessments nationwide

August 05, 2019 2 min read

Wattbike has partnered with health giant Bupa to roll out the Peak Health Assessment across 36 Bupa Health Clinics starting this summer. Following a successful trial at the start of the year, the Peak Health Assessment will allow Bupa health professionals around the country to assess people’s health and recommend a Wattbike training plan to improve their health, and ultimately extend their life.

Richard Baker, Wattbike CEO, comments:“testing to benchmark health and fitness is vital. It’s how we establish a starting point on which to improve. We are extremely proud to have partnered with Bupa on this. We’re providing them with an advanced, non-invasive fitness test to measure physiological responses to exercise which offers practical guidance towards improved levels of health, fitness and performance. By providing this style of personalised coaching, the support tools help people set a benchmark that can be reviewed and improved upon, encouraging them to make necessary lifestyle changes to lead healthier lives.”

The Bupa Peak Health Assessment sees health professionals guiding clients through a Submax ramp test via the Wattbike Hub app. Once completed, clients will receive their predicted VO2 max score and Cardiorespiratory Fitness Score (CRF), plus an individualised training plan which will improve their CRF score in just three months. By improving their CRF score with just five percent, individuals can extend their life with a whole year. Individuals can access the assessment through their health insurance package, through work, or by investing in it themselves.

Sarah Melia, Director at Bupa Health Clinics, adds:“health assessments are a fantastic way of getting a snapshot of your health and we are always looking for new ways to take them to the next level. Our partnership with Wattbike is really exciting as it gives our customers the chance to trial cutting edge technology which was previously the reserve of elite sports people. It’s an exciting addition to our offering and will help people take control of their health and lifestyle.”

39 Wattbikes have now been installed across 36 different Bupa Health Clinics in the UK. The Wattbikes will be put through their paces here, as five health assessments will be carried out each day per bike, totalling 25 health assessments per week per Wattbike. That’s a lot of miles!
